My
name is Paul Glickman and I've been involved with puppets
since I was about 8 years old. My first stage was a wooden
crate and my puppets were sock marionettes my grandmother
sewed for me.
I
started learning magic at around 12, and had a wonderful
mentor, Prof. Abraham Hurwitz (father to Shari
Lewis.)
Between
the two skills I augmented my college costs, and launched
myself into a 20 year career as a cameraman for movies and
television.

I
had often dreamed of a mobile puppet theater, and when I
retired to Santa Fe NM, I found one almost immediately. An
old mail van with the steering wheel on the right. It was
only a shell, without a motor or transmission, but I knew it
would be perfect.
I
designed the banners outside, and inside I built shelves and
drawers and installed the electronics so that the Puppet
Truck's sound system would be completely self contained. The
latest update to the truck has been a magical new prismatic
paint job. The truck now literally sparkles in the
sun.

Of
course it's the puppets that really make the show, and I
make the puppets. Over the years I've created dozens of zany
characters. Some are for special educational shows. Some are
for one-time corporate use. And some are part of the
repetory company that resides in, and regularly performs
from, the Puppet Truck.
Most
of the puppets I make from scratch out of Nerf balls or
socks. Some are stuffed animals that I unstuff and re-sew.
And a few are commercial puppets that I customize with
clothing and props.
